HPC-Europa2 Transnational Access programme: collaborative research visits using High Performance Computing
- Are you a scientist of postgraduate level or above, working in the EU or an Associated State?
- Do you require large computing power to improve your research?
- Would you like to visit a similar research group in Italy, Spain, the UK, Germany, France, The Netherlands or Finland?
Our EC-funded HPC-Europa2 visitor programme could be the answer!
The Transnational Access activity enables researchers working in any eligible country in Europe to carry out a collaborative research visit of up to 3 months´ duration in one of the partner countries (see below), and to gain access to some of the most powerful High Performance Computing facilities in Europe.
Visits can be made to any research institute associated with the seven participating supercomputing centres: CINECA (Italy), EPCC (UK), BSC (Spain), HLRS (Germany), GENCI-CINES (France), SARA (The Netherlands) and CSC (Finland). Click here for more information about host research institutes.
Apply here – but please make sure you save time by reading the guidelines and Frequently Asked Questions before you start to fill in the application form.

The Transnational Access programme will continue until the end of 2012.
HPC-Europa has an online repository for training material, including PowerPoint slides and some audio/video files from HPC-Europa videoconference tutorials (“virtual surgeries”) .
To access these pages you need to register here.
Once you have received confirmation from the twiki administrator that your registration has been approved, you will have access to:
- some course material on HPC topics
- the timetable for "virtual surgeries". For surgeries that have already happened, click on the title of the surgery to have a link to the slides and a recording of the session (where available).
The "HPC-Europa2 Virtual Cluster Live DVD" is a SliTaz based Live Linux DVD. It boots and runs completely from DVD providing recent tools, compilers and libraries for the development of parallel applications. Further on the DVD includes training material, videos from past virtual surgeries and reports from past HPC-Europa visitors.
